HEALTH NOTEBOOK; ALCOHOL SCREENING DAY SET FOR THURSDAY - Dayton Daily News (Dayton, OH)

National Alcohol Screening Day, which is Thursday, is part ofAlcohol Awareness Month.

`Alcohol and Health, Where Do You Draw the Line?' is the theme ofthe one-day outreach and education event scheduled to educate anyonewho drinks, regardless of amount. Free screenings for alcohol-usedisorders will be available. Participants will complete a writtenscreening and can talk to a health professional.

Relay for Life benefits cancer research

The American Cancer Society's signature fund-raiser, Relay forLife, begins April 16. Relay for Life is a 24-hour team walk thatraises money for cancer research and education. One member of a teamwill be on the track at all times. Twenty-two relays will be held inthe Miami Valley through August: April 16-17; April 17-18; April 23-24; April 30 to May 1; May 7-8; May 14-15; May 21-22; May 26-27; May28-29; June 4-5; June 11-12; June 18-19; June 25-26; and Aug. 6-7.

AIDS tests scheduled

The Greene County Combined Health District will provide free 20-minute AIDS tests through August. Appointments are required for theOraQuick test, which is a finger stick. Results will be providedwithin 20 minutes. The health district also provides HIV/AIDSeducation, confidential and anonymous testing and free counselingservices to anyone 14 and older.
